FAQ
Before you send their handwriting.
What handwriting works?
A name written in dark pencil, pen or marker on plain paper, photographed straight-on in natural light. Early, uneven and backwards letters are welcome—the character is what we preserve.
How do you keep the handwriting true?
We keep the untouched photograph, trace the exact mark and strengthen only strokes that cannot be cast safely. Your proof overlays the production trace on the original, so you can see any difference before approving it.
How long does it take?
A digital proof within 10 days of payment. Two revisions are included. After you approve, casting and finishing take 4–6 weeks. Typical dispatch is 5–8 weeks from payment if the first proof is approved.
Is a chain included?
Yes. A 45 cm 925 sterling trace chain connects directly to the first and final letter of the name. Ask for 40 cm or 50 cm at no extra charge.
Will it tarnish?
Sterling silver darkens with air, skin and perfume. A silver cloth brings it back. That patina is ordinary, not a fault. See Care.
Can it be repaired?
Write to the studio with photographs. Cast silver can usually be resoldered. We will quote before doing the work.
Can I give this as a gift?
Yes. You upload the handwriting and can ship to another address. The proof still comes to your archive for approval, so the surprise is the finished piece, not the making.
How do approvals work?
You pay to begin. We overlay the production outline on the original handwriting in your archive. Nothing is cast until you approve it. Two revisions are included; further revisions are A$40 AUD each.
Can I link more than one name?
The first release is one handwritten name per necklace. The chain connects at each end of the word. Multi-name arrangements will open after the single-name construction has been wear-tested.
